Search Guidelines:
The
DuBois Area Historical Society will answer genealogical inquiries sent in by
mail, email or telephone. A general search will be made of our histories,
family files, marriage and obituary files, printed genealogies, cemetery
records, city directories, and census records, if necessary.
With any request, please include your name, mailing
address, telephone number, and email address if you have one.
Please be specific in stating your request. If possible,
state:
1) Full name of the person about whom you want information.
2) Birth and/or death dates, or approximate dates.
3) Location in the DuBois area where the person was supposed to have lived.
4) Other connected names such as spouse, children, close relatives.
5) Religious affiliation.
6) Known occupation.
An advance donation of $25.00 is expected for the first two hours of research.
This amount includes photocopies of relevant material found, and postage. Make
checks payable to:
DuBois Area Historical Society
P. O. Box 401
DuBois, PA 15801
If additional research is required, a donation of $10.00 per hour of research
is expected. Photocopies of material over 25 pages are $.10 per page for members,
$.25 per page for non-members.
If you request one specific item of information, such as a copy of an obituary
or a copy of a listing in a specific city directory, contact us first to see if
we have the item you want. For such a request, we ask for a minimum donation of
$5.00, which includes the photocopy and postage.
We are a non-profit organization, funded entirely my membership dues and
donations, and operated completely by volunteers. Please understand that the
donation amounts we request are based on the time we spend on research. All
funds collected are used to build the resources of the DuBois Area Historical
Society's Genealogy and Research Library.
We cannot guarantee successful results, but will make every effort to help you.
